Special note
Route modification: Route will use the return route both directions between the M5 and Beverly Hills.
Additionally, the route may make small deviations from the official route to improve it for conditions on the
day.
Ride Summary
Ride commences and ends at the Meadowbank ferry wharf, and proceeds over the Ryde Bridge, through Concord and Croydon via road and shared paths through to the Cooks River shared path. After riding briefly on the Cooks River, group will proceed along the Cup and Saucer Creek, then head towards Beverly Hills, Kingsgrove, Oatley and then over the Como bridge to Como.
Coffee will be enjoyed in Como overlooking the Georges River.
After coffee, the ride will essentially retrace the route with variations. On reaching Cooks River, the group will enjoy the Bike North much loved Cooks River shared path back to Sydney Olympic Park to return to Meadowbank.
Allow for 5 hrs including ride briefing, regroups, and coffee. Riders are to have geared road bikes or geared flat bar road bikes due to the hilly nature of ride sections. While there are shared paths, riders also need to be comfortable cycling on the road/road shoulder with traffic. Route hazards include on road/path items such as bollards, sticks etc. Riders to be particularly careful on shared paths with pedestrians and dogs that may unexpectedly move in front of the rider. There are water fountains and toilets on route.
The ride does pass near or through several railway stations which would provide options for riders to leave the ride. Check how trackwork might impact these options. Optionally riders could turn around at any point and retrace the route, but please let the ride leader know BEFORE you leave the ride
