This ride is designed as an out and back ride along the undulating terrain of the Old pacific Hwy before descending to the Hawkesbury River and climbing to Mt White and Calga. The return leg follows the reverse route.
The ride has sweeping views of the Hawkesbury Valley, two good climbs and of course two good descents.
This ride is suitable for riders capable of handling the ride length and pace taking into account the climbs (~3-4km at 4-5% gradient) and descents. Fast moving traffic on the Old Pacific Hwy will require riders to have some experience of riding in these conditions.
There are some food, water and toilet stops on this ride, but riders ought to be self sufficient. There is usually a coffee stop at Pie in the Sky Cafe on the return leg, so take sufficient to sustain your journey.
There are bail out options at Brooklyn, Cowan, Berowra, Mt Kur-ring-gai and Mt Colah rail stations, though these are subject to trackwork.
This ride may be programmed as a brisk/fast paced ride to and from the start/finish to join up with a Cowan Calga ride.
Notes: Limited regroups. Average speed of 22-25kph. Coffee at Saddles. Cancelled if raining.
