Recent Bike North Highlights

In the past month, Bike North offered 49 rides, led by 21 different ride leaders. With a selection of rides across differing levels, distances and on weekdays / weekends, there are rides to suit most members. Check out some photos below taken on recent rides.

On the advocacy front, new bike plans are being considered in Willoughby and Lane Cove and Bike North advocates have been contributing commentary.

The Communications Gurus have been building on existing communications channels with new content and direction. Make sure you log onto our Facebook andInstagrampages and FOLLOW, LIKE and COMMENT to amplify our messages to a wider audience.

The Committee's main focus this month has been kicking off the 30th anniversary celebrations. It is truly amazing that the small band of advocacy enthusiasts that met in 1996 quickly grew into a thriving community group which has continued for 30 years. It has been great hearing all the old stories as we prepare articles for Chain Reaction. Join the founders of the club and many fellow members for the anniversary dinner on 8 August, keep an eye on the Calendar for upcoming heritage rides and diarise our AGM / Big Rides Day on 23 August.

Congratulations & Thank You!

Congratulations to Josef Eberl who successfully completed his ride leader training this past weekend. A fully-fledged ride leader, we look forward to joining Josef on a ride around Sydney.

Here is what Josef says about his passion for cycling:

As a kid, riding a bike meant having fun with mates and siblings. After many years off the bike, rediscovering cycling has allowed me to make new friends, regain fitness, and discover a whole new world on two wheels. I still remember the warm welcome I received on my first ride with Bike North in 2023 and have had many fun rides since then. As a ride leader I hope to be able share, with others, the joy of riding that has become such an important part of my life.

We thank Josef for volunteering in this essential role within Bike North.

In our Safety doesn't happen by accident series, the Defensive Cycling article provides practical tips that you can take each and every ride to give you the best chance of staying safe on roads and cycle paths.

Covering potential hazards such as visibility, car doors, roundabouts, other road / path users, be reminded how to be 'aware' whilst on two wheels.
