Special early start near Epping station, for M7 share the path celebration (8am - 10am). We will skip some of the early slow steep hills and back streets of Baulkham Hills eventually heading straight down the Northern Rd. This plan is to arrive at the M7 centre (adjacent to the M7 bubbler near Spaghetti Junction) by 8am before the rush.

Riders need ti be experienced and competent in suburban traffic and used to riding in a peloton. Cancelled if raining
This ride encompasses elements of three existing rides: Alternate Big Loop, M7 and Prospect Canal. The ride travels through streets of Epping and Carlingford to Pennant Hills Rd and then follows an undulating route through West Pennant Hills with some short challenging climbs (up to 18% gradient) before undulating through the back streets of Baulkham Hills, Winston Hills and onto the M7 cycleway near Glenwood. A quick run along the M7 path to the M7 centre (adjacent to the M7 bubbler near Spaghetti Junction) by 8am
After BBQ + Coffee and enjoying the M7 Share the paths celebrations. We resume along the M7 path before we turn left near Abbotsbury for the back climb up to Moonrise Lookout, to take in the view.
We then ride down from the lookout, exercising caution due to a steep descent and follow the path westwards to Pemulwuy for our 2nd Coffee Stop. After coffee we retrace our route and then follow along the old Sydney water canal which leads to Prospect reservoir and the cycleway route along the old water canal and passing Merrylands to Parramatta and thence under the M4 (cycleway) and Parramatta Valley Cycleway to Meadowbank, then take the climb up the hill to return to Eastwood and further uphill to Epping
The ride is suitable for strong self-sufficient riders on road bikes. Riders will need to be competent and experienced in suburban traffic environments. This hard grade ride has a surprising amount of climbing with some quite short but steep pinches at 10-18%.
Riders must come prepared with two water bottles, tyre repair tools and food snacks for a long ride. In warmer months 2 water bottles are required.
