Bike North Photography Competition: We have a Winner!

Thank you to all members who submitted entries for the Annual Bike North Photography Competition.

There can only be one winner and the prize-winning photo goes to Gary Robinson.

Gary captured his photo last month in Queens Park on the first day of sunshine following a week of rain.

Some effective photographic techniques used by Gary that contributed to his win were:

1. He took the photo during the "Golden Hour". This is the hour just before sunset (or after sunrise) when the sun is low near the horizon and gives a beautiful orange glow to the image. 
2. He used a 5x magnification to draw in the background to accentuate the effect of that orange glow. Gary says: 'Cycle Paths always look better at 5 or 4 times zoom. '
3. The concept of "leading lines" draws the viewer's eyes along the cycle-path, firstly to the cyclists, and then to the glowing orange city and sky in the background.
4. Then there's "the icing on the cake". Although the cyclists are not necessarily Bike North members, the photo certainly promotes cycling for all ages
