Windsor Grass Farms and Scheyville Loop

About this event

We follow Old Windsor Road out to Windsor by riding using either the on-road marked cycle lane or the off road cycle path. At Windsor we take a toilet and water stop after the Hawkesbury Valley Way elevated road bridge to Windsor. We then do a loop around the grasslands and agricultural plantings where the roads have a rural feel with large chip and many potholes. At historic Richmond we turn back and travel past the RAAF base and then on to Windsor for coffee and refreshments. On the return leg we detour to visit Scheyville National Park, which was a former immigration centre, before following the country roads back to Rouse Hill.

This ride is suited to riders who have some experience riding near fast moving traffic as Old Windsor Road is well utilised at weekends and midweek. There is the option to ride the separated cycle path. The route out along Old Windsor Road is generally flat with some small rises enabling a reasonable pace can be achieved. Whilst the verge is acceptable, it is often littered with glass and road debris which can lead to punctures. Riders are encouraged to ensure they bring multiple tubes.

Riding this route in Summer will be hot so riders should ensure that they have plenty of water and food to consume to stay well hydrated.
