Notes for Sunday November 9th
Aim is to see the last of the jacarandas in McDougall St Kirribilli. Other key viewing spots include Mann's Point and the Sustainability Centre. We will use the road route to by-pass Saw Millers Reserve on this one. Slower pace but still plenty of hills. Ride return will be via Neutral Bay and shared expressway overpass. Cancelled if raining or other unsuitable weather.
Ride Description
Scenic loop using the Epping Road cycle path as access to Wollstonecraft and Greenwich then skirting the harbour to Kirribilli via Mann's Point, Gore Bay, Wondakiah, Balls Head, Waverton historic Coal Loader and nearby aboriginal rock carvings, Waverton Peninsula Reserve, Saw Millers Reserve, Berry's Bay, Lavender Bay/Gooweebahree, Luna Park and Kirribilli House. The 33 km ride return is through North Sydney. The slightly longer alternate return version (adds 3km) brings us back past the Ensemble Theatre and winding part way up Neutral Bay. We continue our return via Bicentennial Reserve to rejoin the Epping Road cycle path to Lane Cove. The ride includes lots of hills and a few steep short descents. Approx 250 metres rough surface. Mostly quieter suburban streets often narrow.
