Scenery from the Saddle
Trails can be very surprising. Despite quite a lot of rain recently, Perimeter and Long Trails were very ridable, when we tackled them recently.
The wildflowers were delightful, the views were stunning, and we had it all to ourselves, apart from a couple of horse riders. The turn-around point overlooking Coal and Candle Creek makes a lovely spot for a rest, a nibble and a chat. What a lovely ride.
We were on MTBs, but gravel bikes with tyres wider than 38mm would have been fine. There’s just the one steep hill - about 30m in length - that I still haven't succeeded in riding all the way up. It’s not hard to dismount and push the bike up, though.
Many of the fire-trails around Sydney have been graded and made easy to ride on, perhaps in readiness for the bushfire season. The heat must surely be coming soon, so now is the time to get out and enjoy our scenery, from the saddle.
