The ride commences by crossing the John Witton Bridge and proceeds via Shoreline Drive and the Bennelong Bridge to join the Louise Savage pathway to The Armoury. Before crossing the Silverwater Bridge we have a quick toilet stop.
We follow the PVC to Brodie Street Ermington, where we turn right and access the Parramatta Light Rail shared path near the Yarramundi Light Rail Station. We take this over “The Risty Bridge” before rejoining the PVC using the Arthur Street Bridge.
The Parramatta Valley Cycleway takes us to Parramatta Park where the ride leader has the option of doing a lap of the Park, or proceeding to coffee at Lake Parramatta.
Our return to Meadowbank is via Grose Street and Macarthur Street to the M4 shared path. There are sections where the ride leader can chose to use the shared path or roadway, depending on the experience of the riders.
After crossing Silverwater Road, we proceed along Louise Savage Pathway to Avenue of Oceania where we turn right on the shoulder to Hill Road, where we cross onto the footpath.
The route then makes its way past “The Pyramid” to Olympic Boulevarde where there is an optional toilet stop. From here we make our way back to the start, using Shoreline Drive. It is recommended riders travel 2X2 through the narrow section of Shoreline Drive.
The course is relatively flat however there are a few short climbs.
The ride would suit those who are prepared to peddle for extended periods without descents to rest however it could also be suitable for slower riders, using the slower 17 to 19kph average pace.
The main hazards on this ride are pedestrians and the need to cross the Light Rail tracks on two occasions.
