Notes: Time unlimited parking is available in Centennial Park (check signs). Cancelled if raining.
Starting at Centennial Park we ride a clockwise loop exploring some of Sydney’s iconic Eastern Suburbs beaches. The ride is best tackled in the cooler months to avoid traffic at the beaches. The route initially takes us north to Rushcutters Bay before heading east to Watson’s Bay where we stop briefly for a photo opportunity with views of the harbour. Then it’s south along the coast through Bondi Beach, Tamarama, Bronte, Coogee, Maroubra, with a coffee stop at either Malabar Beach or Little Bay. After which, we cruise to historic La Perouse (which provides an optional water and toilet stop) then Port Botany, before turning north for the return to Centennial Park. There are many short, sharp hills to provide a challenge which require a high level of fitness, while the sharp descents and traffic require skill and confidence to negotiate these conditions. The ride is best run in a small and tight group of ten or fewer riders to more easily navigate the narrow and twisting streets encountered on the route.
