This ride incorporates two long climbs; Mt White, and the hill from the Hawkesbury back to Pie in the Sky.
This ride is NOT suitable as your first ride with Bike North unless you are an experienced rider and you know the terrain.
Riders should be self sufficient for minor mechanical problems and carry a repair kit and spare tubes, and pump. Traffic is usually light on this route but riders must be confident mixing it with cars and motorbikes on narrow roads, esp on the fast descents.
We ride the long uphills and downhills at individual pace, and the flatter sections as a Peloton. If you have never ridden in a Peloton this ride is a good one for you to have a go - experienced riders will show you the ropes. Regrouping points are; the service station over the river, and the top of Mt White. On the way back we regroup at the base and top of the final climb to Pie in the Sky.
There are not many 'bail out' options for anyone having a bad day or unable to complete the ride. The best is at Hawkesbury River railway station in Brooklyn.
